Adventure
Lunch &
a hidden pool.

Trek 3 kilometres through raw rainforest, cross rivers, dip into a freshwater pool tucked deep in the jungle. I cook fresh lunch right there by the rocky pond. Cold drinks. No rush.

A note from your guide
Ollie — your guide, fishing at sunset on the Andaman Sea
Hi, I'm Ollie

and this is my trip.

This isn't a curated boardwalk with handrails. It's the real Langkawi rainforest — humid, alive, occasionally muddy, always honest. I run this trip myself, small groups only.

One thing to know: this isn't a wildlife tour. I'm a trail guide, not a nature guide — I know the path, the river, and how to get you to the pool safely. If you spot something cool along the way, brilliant. But I won't be naming birds or pointing out medicinal plants. That's not what this trip is.

The reward at the end is a rocky freshwater pool tucked so deep in the jungle that even most locals don't know it exists. The water flows down from Gunung Raya, Langkawi's highest peak — cool, clear, deep enough to swim in. You'll have hours here — swim or just sit by the rocks, cold drink in hand, chatting with the group, playing cards, sunbathing, or exploring the area around the pond. Drinks come cold from the cooler, and I'll set up a hammock too, in case anyone wants to nap before the walk back.

While everyone unwinds, I'll get lunch going at the "Jungle Bar" — set up nearby. Local dish, fresh from the pot, chicken or vegetarian, your call.

A typical day

From 09:00 to 03:00.

Six hours. Walk in. Eat. Swim. Chill. Walk out. Times are approximate — I move at the group's pace.
09:00 AM

Meet at Raja Rani Restaurant ↗

Say hi. Once everyone's there, I'll take you to the starting point.

09:15 AM

Arrive at the trailhead — adventure begins

Sort gear, hand out long socks. Then I'll lead you in — about an hour through four mixed sections (easy trail, tall grass, humid forest, wide canopy).

10:00 AM

Arrive at the freshwater pool

Three to four hours here. Swim, float, drink cold drinks, lounge in the hammock. Lunch is cooked right there and served at the "Jungle Bar" — fresh, hot, by the water.

02:00 PM

Begin the trek back

Pack up, retrace the trail. Different light, different angle — the jungle looks different on the way out.

03:00 PM

Back at the starting point

That's it — we're done. Tired legs, happy faces, probably hungry again.

We had a great Jungle hike with Ollie, enjoying a superb lunch at our private river pool. If you want to get away from the well-trodden paths, Ollie is your guide.

Meeting Ollie and joining him on his exceptional hike through the beautiful forest at the foot of Gunung Raya — it was an amazing day. This hike is for anyone who wants a different kind of adventure.

Ollie was full of life and energy. He took us to a beautiful place where the water was crystal clear and we had it all to ourselves. A completely different POV of what Langkawi has to offer.

A decent hike — not too demanding. The highlight is the final spot where we had freshly cooked lunch and some time to rest by the water and have a swim. Authentic, not touristic.

Who comes along

Small group, big vibes.

I keep groups small so it feels personal — proper chat, lunch with friends, and I can look after each of you. Eight is the sweet spot.

Bring less than you think. The trail is short, the pool does most of the work. Moderate fitness is enough.

  • Swimwear underneath

Bring

  • A backpack (no tote bags)
  • Towel & insect repellent

Before the trip

  • Have a light breakfast — not a heavy one

Good to know

Before you ask —

When do trips run?

Trips run on Fridays. That's the regular day, and the easiest to book.

Want another day of the week? No problem — just book at least a week ahead and pick your date in the form below. Less than a week away and not a Friday? Switch the date to "I'm flexible" in the form and pop a note with the day you're after — I'll check what's possible and try to make it work.

Either way, if you'd rather talk it through first, you're welcome to message me on WhatsApp — happy to sort out the details before you book.

Is it safe? Is there insurance?

The trip isn't dangerous — it's a walk through jungle to a freshwater pool, not an extreme sport. But I'll be straight with you: there's no insurance, and you join at your own risk.

If anything does happen, I'll take responsibility for getting you sorted — basic first aid on the spot and getting you safely out of the jungle. Beyond that, we handle it together as the situation needs. I've run this trail many times and look after every group personally.

What happens if it rains?

Light rain? We go anyway. Under the jungle canopy you barely feel it, and a bit of rain is part of the adventure.

If it's a proper thunderstorm, we don't head in — your safety comes first. I'll reschedule you to another day. If a reschedule doesn't work for your trip dates, I'll either arrange a cook-and-eat session for that day at half the price, or give you a full refund if there's nothing on for that day. You won't be left out of pocket.

How do I pay?

No deposit to hold your slot. Once your trip's confirmed, I'll message you to sort payment — cash by hand, whichever's easiest for you. I can come collect from where you're staying, or you're welcome to drop by mine.

Payment's due by the day before your trip. (Malaysian QR pay works too, if you happen to have it — though most visitors just pay cash.)

How fit do I need to be?

Moderate fitness is enough. You're on your feet about an hour in and an hour out, over mixed jungle terrain — some uneven ground, a few stream crossings — with three to four hours of rest, swimming and lunch in between.

If you can manage a steady walk on uneven ground, you'll be fine. If you're worried about anything specific, just message me before booking and I'll tell you honestly whether it's a good fit.

Rubber shoes with great grip. The trail can get muddy, and we cross the river in wet season — so shoes will get dirty or wet. Rent a pair if you'd rather not ruin your own. RM10 each.
Need a driver to pick you up and drop you back? RM170 per vehicle, round trip (1 vehicle fits up to 4 people). Skip if you'll meet me at Raja Rani ↗.
